Oral Cancer Screenings & Disease Prevention
One of the biggest reasons to maintain your daily dental health – brushing and flossing your teeth is – is to remove dental plaque. Plaque left un-dealt with will fill with bacteria and over time can lead to infection around your gum line.
This gum infection is called gingivitis. If gingivitis is left untreated, it worsens in periodontal disease. This gum disease can lead to:
- Gaps and spaces in-between your teeth
- Red, puffy, receding and bleeding gums
- Loose teeth
If you notice any of these symptoms, you could have periodontal disease.
Because plaque is the primary source and cause of periodontal disease it’s incredibly important to remove plaque through routine oral hygiene, including:
- At least twice daily brushing
- Flossing often
- Regular dental checkups
- Teeth cleanings
